Is This Course for You? Let’s Be Honest.

This isn’t a casual weekend class. It’s 10 weeks of showing up, learning real skills, and making furniture with your own hands.

If you’re curious, committed, and ready to try something that could change how you think, work, and build, then yes, it’s for you.

From Fundamentals to Finished Furniture

This isn’t a loose set of lessons, it’s a fully structured experience. Each week builds on the last, combining traditional hand tool mastery with modern machine techniques and design thinking. Here's how your 10-week journey unfolds:

Week 1-2

Sharpen your first tools and build confidence with timber, grain, and joinery. Learn how to care for your tools and complete your first projects by hand.

Week 3-4

Get trained on essential woodworking machines and apply your skills to more complex joinery. Build your first furniture component: a solid side table base.

Week 5-6

Explore design principles, learn 3D modeling with Fusion 360, and work with veneers and steam-bending. This phase bridges digital design and material expression.

Week 7-10

Plan and build a fully custom project of your own. Receive 1:1 tutor guidance, apply advanced finishing techniques, and showcase your work at our final event.

As the first to join The Makers Society team, Joel quickly became a student favorite. Known for his kindness, patience, and helpful nature, he’s always ready to support learners with care and encouragement.

What You’ll Build

Across the 10 weeks, you’ll work on a variety of hands-on projects, starting small and growing in complexity as your skills evolve.

From joinery boards to bentwood forms and veneered panels, each build is designed to teach essential techniques while letting you explore your own style.

You’ll finish the course with a fully custom piece you’ve designed and built yourself, something to be proud of, and a true reflection of your progress.

Just completed my course and when I started I had absolutely no experience with woodworking- I was just eager to learn. Happy to say that I learnt so much! Couldn’t have asked for a better platform to get started!
